ABOUT THE ROSE DISTRICT

Much thought and consideration goes into the naming of a destination in hopes of creating an image in the mind and emotional response from those that hear it.

​

When city leaders wanted to name the rezoned portion of downtown Broken Arrow to an arts and entertainment district, they chose to honor a rich heritage from a city founded in 1902.

Early civic leaders saw the need to beautify the city’s original landscape of sparse prairie land and called on residents to adorn it with bushes, trees, and flowers. Rose bushes were a popular choice and soon travelers nicknamed Broken Arrow the “City of Roses.”

Today, civic leaders are once again transforming the landscape by reviving the historic downtown area to breathe new life into the heart of Broken Arrow and return it to a gathering place for all residents.

The Rose District has undergone a four million-dollar makeover providing a pedestrian-friendly space to better accommodate events with fewer traffic lanes, wider sidewalks, mid-block crossing and comprehensive landscaping. Come visit an award winning Main Street and enjoy great shopping, excellent dining, and entertainment all in a setting in which over one hundred strands of roses call home. We are a city in bloom, visit soon! 

The Rose District is a collaborative public/private partnership that has breathed new life into Broken Arrow’s 100-year-old historical downtown core. Community leaders sought to create a downtown district that would provide a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere, unique dining experiences, and boutique shopping that would draw residents and visitors alike. The resulting vision is now the Rose District, a thriving arts and entertainment district that is home to retail, restaurants, entertainment, and more.

The Rose District came to fruition through a $5MM streetscape renovation that brought wider sidewalks, mid-block crossings, planters adorned with roses, and outdoor dining areas that create a pedestrian and business-friendly atmosphere. The Rose District is also home to several museums and art galleries, a 1500-seat modern performing arts center, a pavilion that hosts our summer farmers market, workout classes, movie nights, and much more.

Even grew up here, just off main street, in the house still owned by my parents, back when it was considered “out in the country.” It was an easy choice to place my business right here, it’s home to me. We have watched both the town and Main Street itself, transform not only from the place people want to live, but to what it is today… a place people come to eat, dine, shop and make memories. The Rose district has become the primary place Broken Arrow residents and surrounding communities come together for all sorts of events, festivals, and to meet up. The Museum Broken Arrow

The Museum Broken Arrow is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, created by the Broken Arrow Historical Society to preserve the local history of the city and its residents and to serve as an educational opportunity for future generations. It hosts many events and traveling exhibits throughout each year for the community, as well as two very popular Museum BA fundraisers, "Pioneer Dinner" and "A Night For The Museum, The Grand Event!" There is something for locals and visitors alike to learn and enjoy at The Museum Broken Arrow. The Museum is a proud member of the Oklahoma Museums Association, Oklahoma Center for Non-Profits, Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce and North American Reciprocal Museum Association. The first floor welcomes you into the Barbara Brown Kimbrough Exhibit Hall where rotating special exhibits are featured as well as a gift shop filled with "Made in Oklahoma" gifts such as shirts, candles, soaps, home goods and educational books.

The Rooftop

The Succulent Shop

By 2019, what started as a vision became reality. Andrew and Cassidy created a mobile plant shop where they sold succulents and cactus at farmers markets and local tradeshows while also adapting a build-your-own-succulent model for tradeshow attenders and scheduled events. After a successful launch of their mobile plant business, they decided it was time to search for the right property in the Tulsa metro area to bring their store front vision to life. The search came to an end when the perfect piece of property became available in downtown Broken Arrow. In June of 2020 – doors officially opened!

Tourism & Economic Development Office

The City of Broken Arrow's Tourism and Economic Development (TED) team has two primary focuses within the City: 1) Business Retention and Expansion and 2) Tourism and Marketing. The TED team works closely with the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce and the Broken Arrow Economic Development Corporation (BAEDC) in order to make Broken Arrow an attractive place for businesses to locate. BAEDC is an independent organization that serves as a partnership between the business community, the city government and the public schools. The Economic Development Corporation focuses on creating wealth, jobs, and economic growth in the community through attraction & retention of businesses, workforce development & education, and collaboration with regional partners. The BAEDC Staff serve the Broken Arrow business community as a source of information and assistance to help grow existing businesses and create new ones. Our staff works diligently to recruit and attract both primary jobs that create the foundation of the business community, and retail establishments that help to create a sense-of-place that is befitting of a community of its size.

Tulsa County Court Clerk Satellite Broken Arrow Office

Broken Arrow Satellite, under the leadership of Department Head Sundy Wiley, operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (with marriage license applications accepted until 4:30 pm) and additionally on Saturdays in Broken Arrow only from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm; offering marriage licenses with specific age requirements and necessary documentation, no residency or blood test requirements, and a waiting period for applicants under 18. The license fee is $50, but can be reduced to $5.00 with a certificate of completion of pre-marital counseling. Copies of marriage licenses and divorce decrees are available with associated fees, and ministers are no longer required to register credentials at the courthouse, with all fees payable by credit or debit card.
